There are also several outdoor events to attend within this period. During the summer months, Atlanta gets extremely hot and humid, which some may find unbearable. July experiences the warmest temperatures, with the average high being 89.1° Fahrenheit, so it’s best to consider the weather when planning your trip.

Atlanta offers visitors an assortment of exciting activities, so there’s something for everyone! If you prefer to keep busy, it’s easy to fill up your day with attractions. However, if you want a more low-key experience, consider just taking a walk around the downtown area! Here are some of the best places to go in Atlanta :
The Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium

Both adults and children will be impressed by the assortment of marine life at the Georgia Aquarium. Home to hundreds of species, it is the largest aquarium in the western area of the world. At the Georgia Aquarium you’ll find beluga whales, dolphins, manta rays and even whale sharks.Interestingly enough, this is the only Aquarium outside of Asia that houses whale sharks. The Georgia Aquarium has seven large galleries to observe their animals in, and there are live shows featuring dolphins and sea lions. This is the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Atlanta Botanical Garden

You can’t visit Atlanta without taking a walk through the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Located next to Piedmont Park in the Midtown district, the Atlanta botanical garden offers a relaxing escape into serenity. The garden consists of 30 acres and has beautiful displays of plant collections that will enchant all who visit. There are also annual festivals and events that feature a variety of seasonal flowers and gorgeous lights. Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the garden, however, there is a restaurant and snack bar onsite for hungry visitors.

National Center for Civil and Human Rights

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is a cultural attraction and museum that all guests can benefit from. It connects the U.S. Civil Rights Movement to human rights challenges experienced today. This meaningful museum focuses on the power of people to
create change, which is a common storyline throughout its exhibits. It even houses personal items and papers of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for guests to view.

World of Coca-Cola

Atlanta is the birthplace of Coca-Cola, so naturally, it is a must to visit the Wold of Coca-Cola when in the city. This entertaining museum tells the story of how the iconic brand was created and has many interactive exhibits. One of the World of Coca-Cola highlights is that guests can sample beverages from all over the world. The museum also has a 3D theatre and a fun new Scent Discovery exhibit, which educates guests on the anatomy of smell.
Ponce city market Atlanta

Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market breathes new life into the historic Sears, Roebuck & Co. building in Atlanta. The classic structure, which is the area’s largest adaptive reuse project, has been reinvented as a vibrant community hub housing the Central Food Hall, various shops, flats and offices, all while pointing back to the roots of its inception. The market infuses vigor and excitement into this historically-significant structure, located in one of Atlanta’s most cherished neighborhoods.
