The Fairmont Montreux Palace has just unveiled its new, freshly renovated Penthouse Suite.
Fairmont Montreux Palace unveils its new suite
It is located on the 7th floor, in the wing adjoining the main palace building, formerly known as the Hôtel du Cygne. It covers 160 m2 and offers three spacious bedrooms including a master suite with a separate dressing room, a living room with fireplace open to a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The suite also has a 12 m2 terrace, offering a view of the Genava Lake and the Alps. "Installed in the attic, the new Penthouse Suite is a real gem added to the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace," the hotel said in a statement.
Built in 1836, the Auberge du Cygne was rebuilt in 1864 by the architect Philippe Franel, then bought in 1895 by Alexandre Emery and Ami Chessex, who founded the Montreux Palace et du Cygne company. In 1906, the architect Eugène Jost built the famous Montreux Palace that we know today and connects it to the Hôtel du Cygne building via the Great Hall. It is on the top floor of this wing that the Penthouse Suite has been fitted out.
Designed by interior architects Kathrin Matthiesen and Mélanie Bach of the Hamburg-based CM Design office, the style created for the Penthouse Suite is inspired by an old postcard of the historic building. Among the materials used, wood and natural stones occupy an important place, especially for the bathroom, the kitchen and the fireplace. The white, cream and gray tones create harmony with the wooden parquet. Shades of green reminiscent of the Geneva Lake are enhanced by floral motifs bringing a touch of freshness that is also found on the flower-filled terrace. The renovation works were carried out by the Felix Graf GmbH office, based in Zenting, Germany. Its amenities include flat screen TV with radio and movies on demand, coffee and tea maker, iron and ironing board, iPad control panel, mini bar, air conditioning, wardrobe with bathrobes and slippers, toiletries, dryer. hair, ISDN modem, safe, magnifying mirror, telephone in room and bathroom as well as a desk. The kitchen is fully equipped to allow long stays. The Penthouse Suite has a private access with the lift.
