Best pizzas in Nyc
New York is arguably the most Italian cities outside of Italy! You will find American and Italian pizzas there. Because yes, there is a fundamental difference between these two types of pizzas. New York is known for its opulence and modernity, but it is also a city of history. The city is filled with authentic pizzerias that opened in the 1950s! Whether it's pizzerias in Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan, we have (hardly) selected some of the best pizzas in New York. It could also be the best authentic pizzerias in New York City since almost all of them are old pizzerias.
J&V Pizza (Brooklyn)
It was in 1950 in Brooklyn that J&V (John and Vinny) opened the doors of their pizzeria for the first time. You can find there at the corner of 63rd and 18th avenues, a wide choice of pizza in a vintage interior as we like them! Little more, the J&V pizzeria is open every day of the week.
Lombardi's Pizza (Nolita, Manhattan)
It is one of New York's most popular pizzerias. Opened in 1905, yes, in 1905, Lombardi's claims to be the first pizzeria in America, to this day the cooking method remains the same so if you want authenticity this is the ideal New York pizzeria. You will probably taste the best Neapolitan pizzas in the city. Little info, unlike other pizzeria in New York, here we do not order slice but whole pizzas, and we eat them at the table, not on the go! On the design side, once again it's authentic, checkered tablecloth, white tiles, wooden counter, but after all that's also what we look for when we want to eat an Italian pizza, isn't it?
John's Pizzeria (Elmhurst, Queens)
John's Pizzeria is a real slice of history since it is a pizzeria from the 70s still in its own juice. Mother-daughter owners Rose and Susan Bagali have welcomed you for 50 years in this unique pizzeria to say the least! You can enjoy real New York pizzas there. Visit Rose and Susan: John’s Pizzeria, 85-02 Grand Avenue, Elmhurst NY 11373, Tuesday through Sunday noon to 10 p.m.
Pugsley Pizza (Fordham, Bronx)
It is again an original and authentic New York pizzeria that we present to you! The rather confidential house behind Fordham Road in the Bronx. Open more than 30 years ago, the decor is extravagant but the pizzas are divine! With a little luck you will find Sal Natale there, a true colorful character, patriarch and co-owner with his son of Pugsley Pizza.
Lucali is located in the Carroll Gardens district of Brooklyn. An authentic pizzeria with subdued lighting. Like many other pizzerias in New York, you will have to remember to book, the good addresses are known and are very popular. Even more since Beyonce is a regular customer. For the record, it is to save the local that Mark Iacono opened this pizzeria more or less by chance! Hard to regret because today is regularly ranked as the number 1 pizzeria in New York and as the number 2 in the United States!
As you can see, New York is full of pizzerias, each one better than the next. Do not hesitate to make us discover your addresses to taste a good "New York Pizza"!
