It is a project in the pipes for more than 3 years now which will undoubtedly end up seeing the light of day in Paris. The complete redevelopment of the 2km avenue between the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde enters a new dimension since the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo indicated that she wanted to redo the Place de la Concorde before the start of the Olympic Games, then all of the Champs Elysées thereafter.
Paris will look like a green city by 2030
Will the most beautiful avenue, which had no more beautiful than its name, be reborn from its ashes with this new project?
The Champs-Elysées, soon to be transformed?
It is under the leadership of the Champs Elysées committee that the avenue could completely change its face by 2030, which has not benefited from any work worthy of the name since 1993! Philippe Chiambaretta, the architect behind the design of the ideal avenue imagined by the Committee, specifies that currently “the roadway is on average traveled by 3000 vehicles per hour, which makes it a more polluted place than the peripheral". An old place to walk that now looks more like an unbreathable place ...
In order to give it a second wind, the Champs Elysées Committee wishes to highlight more than ever the greening of the place. It will then be possible to walk under “tree tunnels”, to stroll in gardens, and to reduce the space of the car - by limiting the road to twice two lanes instead of the current two four lanes. This project seems to correspond in every way to the willingness of the Parisian town hall to give space to pedestrians and make Paris green. We can only welcome a project in the era of time. Place de la Concorde will look like an "Extraordinary garden"
Wishing to proceed in stages, the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo plans to first redevelop the famous Place de la Concorde where the splendid Hôtel de Crillon is located, a Rosewood Hotel, and even transform it into an "extraordinary garden". Plant more than 350 trees, create a central park and reduce the roadway for motorized vehicles… These are great projects that would change the face of one of the many places chosen for the 2024 Olympic Games, for a reinvented city center.
