For the swimming pool, its welcoming rooms and its high-flying spa, lily of the valley is one of our favorite hotels of the summer of 2019. Directed by Philippe Starck, here is all you need to know about this new summer resort. Opened mid-June, in Cap Lardier, not far from Saint-Tropez, Lily of the Valley is Philippe Starck's first project on the Côte d'Azur. Inspired by the hanging gardens of Babylon, the Provençal abbeys and the design of the Californian villas, here is the opportunity to learn a little more with this interior designer who is constantly reinventing himself. Philippe Starck's Interview When and how was Lily of the Valley born? Philippe Starck: "By a meeting as for each of my projects, I am not interested in projects as much as I am, but rather in selling dreams, love, tenderness, poetry, happiness. .. I met Alain Weill and his daughter, Lucie, they are extraordinary people Alain Weil is a character of superior intelligence, extremely powerful but very gentle.I knew immediately that we would make a beautiful project together. " What was the inspiration? "I drew this project in a few hours, without thinking, without discussion, without memory, and when I arrived at the hotel for the final touches, I realized that I had the image of a place of dream A place inspired by some paintings from the 20-30's, strictly neo-classical Mediterranean, as a reminder of the Romanesque era I have always loved the ancient architectures that at the base are very well built and leave room, on the floors, for lighter structures like a trellis or an arbor sometimes with some curtains.I have always wanted to be there and I realized that this is what I have made to Lily of the Valley. " This is your first hotel on the Côte d'Azur, did it have an impact on your creative process? How would you describe this region? "This neo-Romanesque architecture that I mentioned earlier is the very essence of the Mediterranean, it's an extraordinary corner and I am happy that my unconscious allowed me to create this deeply rooted and ultra-modern place. We are not in the people or luxury version of the Côte d'Azur but in reality or the happiness of being on the edge of the Mediterranean. " What is the mood in Muguet? "I've been an organic and vernacular village, everything is so harmonious that we've always been there, it's a place that's waiting for you at any time of your life, at any time of the season. summer, take advantage of the terrace and the pool or draw, it's simply paradise. " What are its colors and materials? "Natural colors such as beige, sand and blond, and raw materials, mainly wood, on the floor, on walls, for furniture ..." His BO? "The Madrague of Brigitte Bardot of course" Your favorite room on the spot? "Room 27 which is the room Jasmine and Philippe, kindly attributed by Alain, but it is not yet completely finalized, it misses our music for example." Three spots to recommend to travelers who put their bags there? "I do not know the Côte d'Azur but we are 15-20 minutes from Saint-Tropez.The other day, I took a scooter, then I went on the beach Pampelonne.I had lunch at La Reserve at the Beach is a great place, before returning to Lily of the Valley for a nap and a cocktail.
