But according to a list unveiled by German hotel guide : Wellness Heaven, the more luxurious is the establishment, the more important the damage is. Televisions, works of art or even coffee machines, the memories brought back by customers are as diverse as they are precious. Some even manage to steal the mattress from their bedroom. Even more strongly, in Italy, a hotelier said he had a grand piano stolen, although it was on display in the reception area of his establishment. These are impressive tricks but rather easy to set up according to professionals in the luxury tourism sector. According to them, it would be enough to wait until the night and take the elevators leading directly to the underground car parks in order not to be detected.
According to this survey, carried out on a panel of 1,157 people, each nationality has its preferences. In France, vacationers are connected since the most stolen object in France is the television, closely followed by the remote control and, more simply, by the batteries. In fact, hotel theft appears to be a national sport. According to a Harris Interactive survey carried out in 2018, 26% of French people have already left their place of stay with an object that does not belong to them. The Germans and the British are the least inventive thieves, the thing they steal the most from the bathrobe.
And special mention to the person who took advantage of a stay in Berlin to redo his bathroom and left with the shower head, the toilet seat, some plumbing elements and even, with the sink...
